Riot has revealed the next playable agent for Valorant: Chamber, a sentinel character. Chamber got a new cinematic trailer too, and his abilities have been revealed as well. As a sentinel character, Chamber is adept at locking down a zone for his teammates, utilizing his abilities to slow down targets long enough to deal damage with his unique heavy pistol and sniper rifle. Sometimes the best defense is a powerful offense.
Chamber's abilities are listed below. It will be interesting to see how Chamber impacts the in-match meta, given that his Headhunter and Tour de Force abilities mean that he doesn't necessarily have to spend too many credits towards purchasing weapons.
Chamber's Abilities
- Ability 1: Trademark - Place a trap that scans for enemies. When a visible enemy comes in range, the trap counts down and then destabilizes the terrain around them, creating a lingering field that slows players caught inside of it.
- Ability 2: Headhunter - Activate to equip a heavy pistol. Alt fire with the pistol equipped to aim down sights.
- Ability 3: Rendezvous - Place two teleport anchors. While on the ground and in range of an anchor, reactivate to quickly teleport to the other anchor. Anchors can be picked up to be redeployed.
- Ultimate Ability: Tour de Force - Activate to summon a custom sniper rifle that will kill an enemy with any direct hit. Killing an enemy creates a lingering field that slows players caught inside of it.
Chamber joins Valorant's roster on November 16. He'll be included within Patch 3.10, which is scheduled to go live on November 16, following the start of Valorant Episode 3, Act 3 on November 2. Episode 3, Act 3 adds a new battle pass to Valorant.
Traditionally, new agents are added to Valorant alongside new Acts, but Riot delayed Chamber's addition to address some lingering issues with the character. In a blog post, Valorant character producer John Goscicki said, "As development progressed on [Chamber], it was clear to us that they were not at the quality bar you've come to expect from us. It's why we've opted to hold the agent for an additional two weeks, while we work on polishing up those final aspects. Sometimes the last 10% of work really brings together the previous 90% of work."
He continued: "Our concern is that gameplay clarity, such as visual cues of what the agent is doing, was not quite there yet. In a game like Valorant where decisions are made in milliseconds, these aspects must be there. This was not an easy decision for us, and hope you understand while we take the extra time to wrap up the final loose ends."
Valorant is available for PC.
