Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Dual Screen Drops to All-Time Low of $1250 at Best Buy - Gadget Tendency

According to sources, a vulnerability has been discovered in the Linux operating system, and a very serious one. To be more precise, this is the most dangerous vulnerability in this OS discovered in recent years.

Linux found the most dangerous vulnerability in the last six years

The vulnerability was named Dirty Pipe (it received the code CVE-2022-0847). It allows attackers to overwrite the contents of various files, allowing them to perform many malicious actions, including installing backdoors, creating unauthorized user accounts, and modifying scripts or binaries used by privileged services or applications.

Interestingly, the vulnerability was discovered while a technician was troubleshooting a number of corrupted files that kept popping up on a client’s Linux machine. After months of analysis, the researcher finally discovered that the corrupted client files were the result of a bug in the Linux kernel.

The situation is aggravated by the fact that the vulnerability is almost impossible to at least somehow fix or reduce the risks, since it affects the main functions of the Linux kernel.

A vulnerability appeared in Linux 5.8 in August 2020. Fortunately, it has been fixed in the 5.16.11, 5.15.25 and 5.10.102 releases.
