Riot Games has announced that the new agent coming to Valorant is Harbor, a controller who has the power to bend water around the map in a variety of different ways. Harbor will launch on October 18, alongside the release of Valorant Episode 5 Act 3 and the accompanying battle pass.
Harbor is an agent designed to compete with Viper, being able to block vision directly on the map instead of having to jump to another screen to place it. He does this using water, placing walls and bubbles of liquid in certain locations that will block vision and protect allies. You can see a full rundown of his skills below.
His E ability is High Tide, which spawns a wall of water which both blocks vision through it, and slows any players hit by it. You can bend the wall, to give you a curved wave of protection.
His Q is Cove, which is effectively a small smoke that will block bullets from entering it. This seems like a perfect spell to protect teammates when planting or defusing the spike, but probably won't be particularly useful for smoking off enemies or areas.
His C ability is Cascade, which is similar to High Tide in that it sends a wave of water going forward. However, this is less about vision denial and more about slowing enemies. This one also travels through walls, so you can use it as a sneak attack for someone hiding round a corner.
Finally his ultimate is Reckoning, where you summon a geyser pool on a location in the ground. Any enemies that are hit by the geyser are concussed, and this has multiple strikes, meaning you could control an enemy for quite a while if they can’t move out. For any Dota 2 players, it seems very similar to Kunkka’s Torrent.
“We set out to create a Controller that didn't have to go off into another world or look at a map to place their vision block,” said Alexander Mistakidis, a designer on Valorant. “We also wanted to create an Agent that could compete with Viper on the maps where she is almost exclusively played. After we completed our initial explorations, we honed in on Harbor being an Agent that can shape their vision block on the battlefield in creative ways.”
Also launching as part of the same update is the Episode 5 Act 3 battle pass. This time out it features Vandal and Operator skins as the highlights, as well as the Iridian Thorn Blade for knife lovers.
