Three Israeli Startups With a ChatGPT Plugin - StartupHub.ai

In the rapidly expanding ChatGPT Plugins Store, a marketplace teeming with tools for tasks like website automation creation, SEO marketing, instant PDF to CSV conversion, or in-depth scientific journal research, among hundreds more, three Israeli startups have managed to gain entry. Checkmarx, Snappy Gifts, and Tomorrow.io are the three Israeli startups/companies that traversed the digital threshold onto the revolutionary ChatGPT web app, thus far.

Snappy Gifts: Your Personalized Gift Guru

For those struggling with the eternal question, “What gift should I buy?” Snappy Gifts’ plugin, Snappy, uses smart algorithms to sift through a sea of gifts, offering five top recommendations tailored to your specifications. Users provide tags describing the recipient’s interests, (e.g. “book lover”, “coffee enthusiast”, “gardening”), and a price range, and Snappy provides an array of options and a link for viewing each gift.

Based on the prompt: “I need a gift for my friend who loves reading, coffee, and gardening. She’s in her 30s. My budget is between $20 and $50,” this is the result the plugin returned:

Based on the tags you provided, here are some gift recommendations for your friend:

  1. Chantal White French Press: A beautiful white French press made of glazed stoneware, perfect for preparing a flavorful cup of coffee or tea.
  2. Lessons: A novel by Ian McEwan: An epic and intimate story of one man’s life across generations and historical upheavals, from the best-selling author of Atonement and Saturday.
  3. 3-Cup Moka Pot: A JoyJolt moka pot for brewing a perfect cup of morning coffee.
  4. 3 Piece Garden Tool Set: A trio of gardening essentials with a fun and stylish print, perfect for a variety of tasks including digging and weeding.
  5. Lady Tan’s Circle of Women: A Novel: The latest historical novel from New York Times bestselling author Lisa See, inspired by the true story of a woman physician from 15th-century China.

Checkmarx: Code’s Gatekeeper

Checkmarx introduces a measure of security in the coding process. Their plugin, CheckAI, verifies the packages or libraries referenced in code. The tool scans various directives and installation commands, ensuring validity and excluding any standard packages that don’t require installation. From serving the OpenAPI YAML file to generating JSON files, Checkmarx provides a thorough toolkit for secure package dependencies.

As explained by the GPT-4 model with the CheckAI plugin enabled:

The Checkmarx CheckAI plugin is a tool for validating packages or libraries referenced in code. It checks for the inclusion of these packages through various directives like ‘include’, ‘import’, ‘using’, ‘require’, and others. It also validates packages found in installation commands such as ‘npm install’, ‘pip install’, ‘gem install’, ‘go get’, ‘cargo install’, ‘composer require’, and similar commands.

The plugin provides three main functions:

  1. validatePackages: This function takes an array of package names and their associated languages to validate.
  2. yaml: This function serves the OpenAPI YAML file. OpenAPI is a specification for machine-readable interface files for describing, producing, consuming, and visualizing RESTful web services.
  3. json: This function serves a JSON file. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data-interchange format that is easy for humans to read and write and easy for machines to parse and generate.”

Tomorrow.io: Weather Forecasts

With Tomorrow.io, users can plan their day or week based on precise, location-specific weather forecasts. The plugin, aptly named “weather”, answers a wide array of weather-related questions and provides contextual insights about weather and climate-related topics.

When prompted for the 15-day weather forecast in Tel Aviv:

  • On July 23, the temperature will be around 31 degrees Celsius.
  • The temperature will slightly increase to 31.3 degrees Celsius on July 24.
  • On July 25, the temperature will rise to a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius.
  • It will continue to increase to 34.8 degrees Celsius on July 26.
  • However, the temperature will start to decrease on July 27 to 33 degrees Celsius, and it will continue to drop to 32.4 degrees Celsius on July 28.
  • From July 29 to July 31, the temperature will gradually decrease from 30.6 degrees Celsius to 29.3 degrees Celsius.
  • Starting from August 1, the temperature will slightly increase to 30.4 degrees Celsius and will remain around this range until August 4.
  • On August 5, the temperature will drop to 29.6 degrees Celsius, but it will increase again to 30.7 degrees Celsius on August 6.
  • On the last day of the forecast, August 7, the temperature will be around 30.6 degrees Celsius.

Despite these three, the presence of Israeli startups in the ChatGPT Plugins store remains notably sparse, heavily underrepresented out of the +735 plugins available. The reasoning could range from stringent approval process, or a conscious decision by the majority who don’t see the value in lending their technology to the ChatGPT’s massive 1.7 billion monthly users (as per SimilarWeb) with ambiguous attribution guidelines and the monetization they would normally see on their own channel.

These startups may be among the first Israeli companies to enter the ChatGPT Plugins store, but likely aren’t the last, with more local startups anticipated to surface on the revolutionary digital marketplace.
