As part of its Dell Back to School Sale, Dell is offering an ultra-portable Dell XPS 15 laptop equipped with a 15" 3.5K OLED display for only $1099.00. This laptop normally sells for $1850. This is an excellent laptop for school or work and has a much better build quality than you'd expect for a near $1000 laptop.
Dell XPS 15" 3.5K OLED Touchscreen Laptop for $1099
The XPS is easily Dell's nicest consumer laptop. The build quality is similar to what you'd expect from Apple. The chassis is 100% CNC machine-milled aluminum with diamond cut sidewalls for scratch resistance. The keyboard palm rest area is made of carbon fiber for maximum strength and minimal weight. The keyboard itself feels great. The touchpad is nicely oversized and the keyboard features functional LED backlighting and large keycaps for a comfortable typing experience. The XPS 15 weighs in at about 4.3 pounds, which is right smack dab in between the MacBook Pro 14 and 17.
The display boasts a 3.5K 3456x2160 resolution. It's not quite 4K, but does that even matter for a 15" screen? It's also touchscreen capable. It's powered by an Intel Iris Xe graphics chip. That means the XPS 15 isn't a gaming laptop, but that's obvioulsy not its intended purpose. The Iris Xe is a fine onboard GPU for any other task outside of hardcore gaming or rendering, and it will save you a lot of battery life compared to a discrete GPU. You'll get up 10-13 hours of battery life on a single charge.
The rest of the specs are more than capable enough to handle your every day activities of school or work. That includes an Intel Core i5-12500H processor with a Turbo boost clock of 4.5GHz and 12 cores with 16 threads, 16GB of DDR5-4800MHz RAM, and a 512GB SSD. This laptop's also equipped with the latest ports like USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and Thunderbolt 4, both with DisplayPort and Power Delivery support.
